The father of Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer realized that his son was the shooter after recognizing an unusual rifle in the pictures shared on social media.
According to officials, Matt Robinson explained to authorities that he and his partner became alarmed the day after Kirk was killed in Utah when they saw pictures of the suspect and the weapon used on the news.
The shocked dad didn’t take more than two seconds to recognize that the weapon used was his own dad’s gun in the pictures that the cops had released.
Tyler Robinson’s grandfather had given him the rifle as a gift before he used that to murder Kirk, officials mentioned on Tuesday. After recognizing the unique weapon, Matt Robinson texted his son and asked him for an image of the family heirloom, which the suspect failed to provide.
In the text exchange between Tyler Robinson and his partner, shared by the cops, the killer claimed the rifle was the only evidence he left behind.
‘If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on’- he wrote. He also mentioned how he had not seen anything about the authorities finding it.
