The former soccer president of the Spanish Football Federation was found guilty of assault.
According to reports from local media outlets, Luis Rubiales was said to be forcibly kissing a star soccer player who goes by the name Jenni Hermoso.
The viral incident sparked major backlash around the globe and many felt that he needed to be stripped of his title to prevent others from carrying out such indecent acts in public.
The Spanish court did issue a ruling finally on the case where they fined him 10,800 euros but cleared him on a single charge of coercion that arose from a similar incident as per several news outlets.
After reading this verdict, the judge mentioned how Rubiales ended up assaulting Hermoso when he grabbed her head with both of his hands and then suddenly kissed her on the lips without taking her mission as per the Guardian.
Clearly, the act of kissing a woman on the lips has a major sexual connotation and not the manner in which anyone can be greeted if they’re not connected emotionally, the paper read.
