Terrifying and tragic reports have confirmed the death of a three-year-old boy from Maine who was found dead in the snow.
The news comes after the family reported the child missing over the weekend.
As per reports from the Maine State Police who are currently investigating the matter, the remains of the toddler were found on Exeter Road in the town of Corinna on Sunday.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, a family member identified the child as her nephew and called 911 for immediate help during the early hours of the morning.
This was the same day that the child was reported missing by the dad. She and the child’s dad tried their best to get immediate help from first responders but it was too late.
He lay frozen to death outside in the snow, which was a short distance from the family’s residence.
EMS arrived at the scene but he had died from his injuries and the freezing temperatures that his body could not sustain. As per reports from the Maine State Police, it was not a case of trauma or abuse.
They are still investigating the matter and how the child landed in this state in the first place.
