Tragic reports are speaking about two firefighters being killed while a third was injured when first responders were ambushed by an hours-long barrage of gunfire.
The incident arose after they arrived at the scene of the blaze in Idaho on Sunday afternoon as per authorities.
The horrific attack that started at 2 pm local time on Canfield Mountain near Coeur d’Alene ended about five hours later when SWAT teams found the lifeless body of a male next to a firearm on the popular tourist trail.
This was called out to be a moment of total and absolute ambush, as the firefighters did not have a chance against them, the Sheriff’s department shared.
A massive manhunt was underway to assure the community that no other threat exists as the suspect with the sniper was caught.
The report spoke about how they had one dead shooter based on the preliminary investigations that were carried out recently. The fire was quickly approaching the body, so they had to scoop up the body and transport it to another location. The cops feel that there was only a single shooter who was present on the mountain at the time.
