A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was bitten by a copperhead snake at the North Carolina day care playground, with the child’s family later learning that the facility never called 911, as per local reports.
The child was playing near the sandbox at the New Beginnings Child Enrichment Center in Stony Point on Thursday when the venomous snake bit his left hand, causing his fingers to swell.
The boy’s family shared how they were initially told that the child suffered from a broken hand or some broken bones, but did not provide any more specifics.
A worker then killed the snake following the gruesome attack. Brook Cooper, who is the boy’s aunt, explained how it was not until the boy’s family got to the day care that they were told the real truth. ‘The director got up and said he got snakebit. My first thought was that did anyone call 911? My second thing was like, do the other parents even know?’- the parent continued. Sadly, none of that happened, and she’s just so upset.
The parents also alleged that the day care was least bothered about how serious the matter was and that the child’s guardian was the one who had to rush him to the ER.
Emergency services confirmed to local outlets that they never received any call from the day care, and that was shocking, to say the least.
