Ski cross star Audun Groenvold has reportedly passed away after being struck by lightning at his cabin on Saturday.
The victim was only 49 years old, as shared by NRK. He was said to have been struck by a serious lightning bolt that gave him devastating injuries.
The ski federation in Norway says he was one of the most loved and outstanding athletes that they had, paying tribute to his wonderful achievements.
Groenvold was a member of the national alpine team for several years before he transformed into a pioneer in the category of freestyle and ski cross in Norway.
The president of the Federation shared how the star’s death was truly very tragic and mentioned how skiing had just lost a prominent figure who meant so much to both the alpine and freestyle communities.
He leaves behind his wife and three kids. His wife, Kristin, had just published a memorial on social media regarding this matter. She shared how he was the love of her life and best friend for the past two decades.
