The first victims of the terrifying blaze at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Turkey were identified.
The death toll for the tragic inferno has hit 76 with dozens injured in the country’s Bolu province.
Among those killed include a 10-year-old swimmer and her mother. Others included a chef at the hotel and the daughter of a prominent businessman who was said to be vacationing with her teenage daughter.
Authorities are still working to identify other victims and all those named so far were said to be Turkish nationals.
Nine people including the hotel’s owner were detained linked to the blaze as per the country’s interior ministry.
Witnesses shared more details about the horror including how many were left with no choice but to jump for their lives from the window of the burning resort or risk being burned alive as they were trapped.
People began jumping with panic and one is said to have died after jumping from the 11th floor of the building.
Others tried to use bedsheets to climb down but those ripped and the visitors slammed down to the ground, suffering terrifying head injuries and dying as a result of trauma.
