Sinead O’Connor was seen beaming in her last photos before she passed away at the age of 56.

The Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker was seen at the RTC Choice Music Prize in Dublin where she accepted the Classic Irish Album award.

In the photos, the Irish singer can be seen waving to her fans and smiling as she picked up the accolade.

Sinead is survived by her three children. Her son, Shane, died last year at the age of 17.

A heartbroken Sinead took to social media and wrote a tribute to her son – whom she shared with musician Donal Lunny – writing: “May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”

Before Shane passed away, he had vanished, with his mother issuing a desperate plea to locate him.

“Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing.”

Irish deputy premier Micheal Martin described Sinead as one of Ireland’s greatest singers.

In a heartbreaking statement on Twitter, the Tanaiste of Ireland wrote: “Devastated to hear of the passing of Sinead O’Connor. One of our greatest musical icons, and someone deeply loved by the people of Ireland, and beyond.

“Our hearts goes out to her children, her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.”

Actor and American rapper Ice T also paid tribute to the late singer, saying she ‘stood for something.’

“Respect to Sinead….. She stood for something… Unlike most people…. Rest Easy,” he wrote.
