Simon Cowell has paid a touching tribute to America’s Got Talent contestant known as Nightbirde after her premature passing.
Nightbirde, born Jane Marczewski, wowed America’s Got Talent Season 16 viewers with her amazing singing performance in June last year.
After performing her original, emotion-filled song ‘It’s OK’, Nightbirde managed to capture the hearts of the audiences and the judges, prompting Cowell to hit the Golden Buzzer.
Sadly, the 31-year-old performer announced she was withdrawing from the competition in August after her cancer progressed and she could no longer perform.
Now, Cowell has joined thousands of well-wishers as he paid a tribute to the inspirational young lady after the news of her passing.
“Heart breaking news to hear about @_nightbirde, she was an extraordinary person, so brave, so talented,” the English TV personality who returned to AGT for season 16 wrote.
“She made a huge impact on AGT and the world. Her determination to fight this terrible illness was remarkable.”
He added: “Rest in peace, Jane. I am sending my love to her family.”
The tragic news of Marczewski’s passing comes just months after the 31-year-old took to Instagram to announce that she could no longer show off her skill on the stage due to her illness.
“I am so sad to announce that I won’t be able to continue forward on this season of AGT. Life doesn’t always give breaks to those that deserve it—but we knew that already,” she wrote last August.
“Thank you for all your support, it means the world to me. Stay with me, I’ll be better soon. I’m planning my future, not my legacy. Pretty beat up, but I’ve still got dreams.”
On January 11 this year, Nightbirde came up with one final social media post in which she revealed that things have gotten “pretty brutal.”
“Honestly, things have been pretty brutal. But this is a photo of myself from last week where I felt pretty, and alive, and awake, and human, and real. I needed that. We’re all a little lost and it’s alright,” she expressed.
Our thoughts are with Jane’s family and friends during these challenging times.
