The Walt Disney Company shared on Monday that Jimmy Kimmel Live is all set to make a comeback on air on Tuesday, following a weeklong suspension over his monologue about the Charlie Kirk murder.
In a statement that was shared, Disney said it was halting production last Wednesday to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for the nation.
The firm further mentioned how some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. ‘Executives said they spend a few days in discussions with Kimmel before concluding that the late night program could resume.
The suspension from ABC followed remarks linked to Kimmel in which he claimed that MAGA activist Kirk was killed by other supporters of President Trump, despite authorities saying that the alleged killer had a leftist social media history. Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner blasted the decision, accusing the firm of yielding to out-of-control intimidation from federal regulators.
ABC affiliates, including Nexstar and Sinclair had threatened to preempt the show unless action was taken on a massive scale, and the FCC chair Brendan Carr publicly warned that the firm could be facing an additional scrutiny if they chose to remain silent and didn’t intervene.
