The armed individual accused of bringing a gun and a knife inside the Arizona Stadium yesterday, where Charlie Kirk’s funeral will be held, posed no threat and was merely carrying out a security sweep ahead of the services, Turning Point USA shared.
Joshua Runkles was arrested on Friday inside the State Farm Stadium for allegedly posing as a cop. He was believed to be on site and taking part in advance security for a well-known guest at the memorial.
The funeral today is expected to draw more than 100,000 attendees, including some top VIPs like Donald Trump.
‘We don’t believe this person was trying to do anyting dangerous, however, the advance was not done in proper coordination with the TPUSA security team or the US Secret Service’- TPUSA spokesperson shared on X. Another point worth a mention is how this was done before the site had been fully sealed and locked down. Each precaution is now being taken to make sure everyone is safe and secure.
Runkles was said to be carrying knives, guns, and expired law enforcement credentials when he was nabbed inside the NFL stadium, which is home to the Arizona Cardinals, during the afternoon hours of Friday.
