One expert says that even if rescuers find the sub, they only solve half of the problem.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, naval architect Fotis Pagoulatos believes rescue teams only have one chance to save Titan and that it would be a highly challenging task.

“You need a ship that can lower a cable to pull the Titan up or have some kind of a claw. Even if they find it, there may not be enough time for the rescue because of the oxygen issue inside,” he said.

“Pulling up a vessel the size of a small bus is a complicated operation that takes time, and you only get one chance,” he added.

According to Insider, there is hope that this type of rescue mission can be successful as the Navy has sent a Flyaway Deep Ocean Salvage System. It is a lifting system designed for retrieving heavy objects from deep underwater.

In addition, rescuers also heard ‘banging’ sounds wand many believe that this indicates the people on the missing vessel are still alive.

The five people onboard have been named as founder and CEO of OceanGate Stockton Rush, French pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet, British billionaire Hamish Harding, and businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman.
