Tragic reports have confirmed a cargo aircraft skidding off the runway into the sea at Hong Kong International Airport during the early hours of Monday.
According to sources, two airport ground staff were killed in the incident, while all four crew members remained unhurt in the incident. The aircraft was identified as a Boeing 747 freighter plane operated by a Turkish-based ACT Airlines on behalf of Emirates SkyCargo. It landed from Dubai and then deviated off the northern runway, colliding with a patrol vehicle outside the runway fence.
This caused the plane to end up partially submerged in the sea. The vehicle was believed to be carrying two security officers, and both of them were pulled from the sea, but one died, and the other passed away later at the hospital.
