Mark Lanegan, the lead singer of the rock band Screaming Trees, has reportedly passed away at the age of 57.
The renowned icon in the genre of grunge music left so many fans devastated after the news of his death broke out.
The singer was also a notable member of the Queens of the Stone Age. Sources claim that the music star passed away at his residence which is located in Killarney in Ireland on Tuesday, during the early hours of the morning.
According to local media outlets, the news broke out after being published through his official account on Twitter.
The tweet read as follows: “A beloved singer, author, musician, and songwriter, he was 57. He is survived by his wife Shelley.” But no other information was mentioned or available during that time. It was also boldly stated how the family hopes and expects others to follow their privacy during this difficult and grieving time.
The rockstar’s death comes as a major shock to so many people because it was just months after the star spoke in a candid manner about his month-long battle with COVID-19. And that is also what led to a series of hallucinations and also a medically induced coma.
Both Lanegan and his close pal Kurt Cobain were deemed to be one of the key figures hailing from the genre of grunge music. This was originated in Seattle during the late 1980s.
The singer was born in the year 1964 and hailed from Seattle. He had originally formed Screaming Trees when he was a teenager along with his guitarist named Gary Lee, a bassist named Van Conner, and a drummer named Mark Pickerel.
Sources claim that the band had released their first LP in the year 1986 and this was right before they signed a major label contract alongside Epic Records in the year 1990.
