One of the youngest students who was killed in the mass shooting at the Minneapolis Catholic Church was identified today as his devastated father tore into the cowardly gunman who took away his son’s life.
8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and another 10-year-old student were both killed by the gunman in the same location where they sat in pews during a back-to-school Mass when the 23-year-old Robin Westman opened fire through stained glass windows of Annunciation Church and Catholic School on Wednesday.
Jessie Merkel who is Fletcher’s dad just struggled so much to speak during the press conference where he broke his silence on the matter that has ripped his family apart.
He shared how much Fletcher loved his family, friends, fishing, and cooking. Similarly, he enjoyed any sport that he was allowed to play, his dad mentioned, finding it so hard to share how his son was no more in this world during the press conference.
His father mentioned how he’s heard so many tales accounting the swift and heroic actions of the kids and adults alike from inside the church.
Without these people and their selfless actions, this could have been a massive tragedy that could have killed more individuals, he continued. Right now, 18 more victims are battling for their lives inside hospitals as they were injured in the tragic rampage carried out by the trans shooter.
