Sam Smith Reveals They Dream Of Becoming FISHER-THEM

Sam Smith, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, has left viewers baffled after suggesting a brand-new genderless term.

Speaking on BBC’s The One Show, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter and Grammy winner opened up about their hobbies including fishing.

Responding to show host Ronan Keating, the pop star admitted they are a great fan of fishing while suggesting they see themselves ending their days fishing.

“Yeah, I’d love to be a fisher-them,” Sam said.

Confused by the idea, Keating asked: “What, like a fly fisherman?”

The singer then elaborated: “I’d be any type of fisher-them. I think I would like to, one day, I’d just like to end my days fishing. Like sitting on a bank.

“I do it on the sea and I do it on lakes. I’ve never done it alone, someone’s always taught me.”

The interview and the never-before-heard term caused a stir on social media where viewers insisted things were getting out of hand.

“What fresh linguistic h*ll is this?” one user wrote.

Another said: “This needs to stop. There are more important things in the world to focus on than pronouns.”

Smith’s BBC appearance comes shortly after the singer, along with trans female singer Kim Petras, won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit song Unholy.

The song was also performed at the Brit awards on Saturday only to rack up more than one hundred Ofcom complaints over obscene behavior and offensive language.

“We received 106 complaints about The Brit Awards on ITV1 on 11 February. The majority of complaints related to Sam Smith’s performance, with the remainder about the use of offensive language and consumption of alcohol,” a spokesperson told MailOnline.

Meanwhile, Grammy Awards critics blasted Smith and Petras as they branded their award-winning hit as “satanic” and “offensive.”
