An entire Russian tank convoy has been destroyed near Kyiv as Russian forces have begun retreating from the region.
Following more than a month since the invasion of Ukraine began, Russian troops have suffered considerable losses while making little to no progress in their objective to capture the capital of Kyiv.
Now, the Ukrainian government proudly announced that the entire Kyiv region has been liberated from the invaders.
“Irpin, Bucha, Gostomel, and the whole Kyiv region were liberated from the invader,” Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar revealed.
Meanwhile, drone footage showing an entire Russian convoy getting ambushed and annihilated just outside Kyiv has begun circulating the internet.
In the footage, numerous Russian tanks and armored vehicles can be seen burning and going up in smoke during a Ukrainian ambush.
Another clip shows the aftermath of the confrontation and the numerous Russian armored vehicles that were destroyed in the process.
Among the wrecked military vehicles were BMP 2 infantry combat vehicles and T-72 main battle tanks.
The news comes as Russian troops began leaving the capital region and heading back towards the east of the country.
Military experts, however, have since warned that the retreat is simply one of Putin’s repositioning tactics, whereas the Russian leader likely pulled back his troops to encircle Ukrainian troops defending the embattled Donbas region and attempt to cut it from the rest of Ukraine.
“Russian units are not withdrawing but repositioning,” NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg warned.
