Russia has warned that Putin could launch nukes at any time if provoked by NATO.
In a chilling warning to NATO and the West, the Russian ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, warned of a possible nuclear war and dire consequences should other countries get directly involved in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“If Russia is provoked by NATO, if Russia is attacked by NATO. We are a nuclear power, why not?” Polyanskiy told Sky News after being asked about Russia’s nuclear war threats.
He added: “I don’t think it’s the right thing to be saying. But it’s not the right thing to threaten Russia, and to try to interfere.
“So when you’re dealing with a nuclear power, of course, you have to calculate all the possible outcomes of your behavior.”
The ambassador, who is currently staying at the Russian mission to the UN in Manhattan, went on to deny that Russia is committing war crimes in Ukraine while calling videos showing Russian atrocities in the embattled nation “fake news.”
“I don’t think we’re committing war crimes in Ukraine. Of course, it’s not up to me to assess. I’m not there. You’re not there,” Polyanskiy added.
“You’re looking at the videos, you’re looking at the many of videos which are considered to be fake news. You believe one thing, I believe another thing.”
In a preposterous move, the Russian ambassador also suggested that Ukrainian forces were responsible for bombing their own cities and civilians after he was shown graphic Associated Press photos depicting damage to buildings and casualties in the besieged city of Mariupol.
“They were not targeted. We said from the very beginning, that our military is not a threat for the civilian population Ukraine,” Polyanskiy insisted.
