Captured Russian soldiers broke into tears and claimed President Vladimir Putin gave orders to throw deceased troops into mass graves.
As casualties continued to grow on both sides amid Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, thousands of Russian soldiers were killed while many were captured by the Ukrainian forces.
Now, a group of captive Russian soldiers spoke out against their leader in a press conference with Interfax-Ukraine and urged their countrymen not to believe Putin and his lies.
Accusing Russia’s leader of war crimes, Alexei Zheleznyak of the 34th separate motorized rifle brigade said Putin “is a liar and a deceiver of all our people.”
“Putin, without declaring war, is bombing residents, hospitals, cities of Ukraine. People of Russia, don’t look at the zombies. The Ukrainian people are a brave people. They will stop this even without weapons. They are united,” he added.
“No matter how much Putin sends his troops here, he will not capture this territory… Our commander-in-chief is a liar and a deceiver of all our people.
“He deceived not only us, but the whole of Russia. He simply made fascists out of us.”
Speaking out was also Mustafaev Mugsad of the 34th separate motorized rifle brigade who urged people not to believe Russian propaganda.
“People, military men of Russia, finally take off your rose-colored glasses and see what is happening in Ukraine,” he said as he insisted the Russian “aggression” will be remembered for centuries.
Meanwhile, Igor Rudenko of the 126th separate coastal defense brigade asked fellow soldiers not to repeat his mistakes as he urged them to leave Ukraine.
“Take the troops away, because Putin does not need us. He does not even take the corpses. They are thrown into mass graves. It’s hard to see,” Rudenko said.
Lastly, Alexander Fomenko of the 126th separate coastal defense brigade called on his countrymen to stand up to the Russian dictator.
“Do not be afraid of our government. They will not trample on the crowd. Yes, they will detain 10,00-20,000 people, but there are more of you,” he said. “You can go out and stop this chaos. Peaceful people suffer here, children.”
