Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was seriously injured in a freak car accident in New Hampshire on Saturday night.
The news was confirmed by one of his reps, who shared how the 81-year-old was hospitalized with a fractured vertebra and several cuts and bruises, including injuries specifically to his left arm and lower leg. This is right after his rental car was slammed from behind, as confirmed by spokesperson Michael Ragusa on Sunday.
Mayor Giuliani was flagged down by a woman who was a victim of domestic violence prior to that accident. He rendered assistance and contacted 911, remaining on the scene until responding officers arrived to ensure his safety.
The accident took place after he re-entered the vehicle, which was then rammed from behind at high speed.
The former mayor was said to be a passenger in the Ford Bronco being driven by Theodore Goodman of Michigan at the time of the roughly 10pm crash, as shared by the police.
As the cops were responding to that matter of domestic violence on Interstate 93, the Bronco was hit from the back by a Honda HR-V driven by 19-year-old Lauren Kemp of Concord, and both vehicles ended up barreling into the median.
Giuliani, Goodman, and Kemp were all rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries according to the cops. No charges were filed in that incident.
Ragusa shared on X how no one had a clue that Giuliani was inside the rental. The former NYC mayor is said to have suffered from serious lacerations, contusions, and a fracture to his vertebrae.
