“We Have Every Right To Offend People” Comedian Rowan Atkinson HITS BACK At ‘Cancel Culture’


Comedian Rowan Atkinson is hitting back at society’s cancel culture as he was recently caught mentioning that comedians have the right to offend people.

“It is our job to offend them. We have all the right in the world to”- the famous actor who is known for playing ‘Mr. Bean’ mentioned.

Rowan mentioned that we all live in a free society and keeping that in mind, people need to take it easy when it comes down to jokes and laughter.

“The purpose of comedy was related to having the potential to offend. We are being paid to make people look ridiculous. We are not out there to pretend or give them compliments”- he continued.

This is definitely not the first time that the 67-year-old celeb has spoken out against cancel culture. Previously, we’ve seen him speak against a campaign that was designed to limit people’s voice or freedom of speech and that was not something that he found to be acceptable in today’s day and age.

The actor who is best known for his hilarious roles in films says the world of social media fills him with great doubt and fear about the future. In the same way, he was also seen condemning the role of cancel culture and referred to it as the digital equivalent of what we see as the medieval mob.

As far as the celeb’s plans for the future are concerned, well, he’s super excited for the upcoming animated movie for ‘Mr. Bean’. For that, he will be offering his voice and hopes that it turns out to be just the way people would have envisioned with.

But there are no plans of playing Mr. Bean physically as the comedian feels he no longer has it in him to act like that.

“The pressure to play him is just too immense and exhausting. I don’t enjoy playing him”- the celeb mentioned.
