Robert De Niro choked up and shared tears of happiness as he broke his silence about his baby daughter Gia.
The Hollywood icon welcomed his youngest child – and his 7th child in total – with Tiffany Chen last year. Now, he gushed over fatherhood and his 9-month-old daughter in a tear-jerking interview with AARP The Magazine.
“Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about just goes away when I look at her. It’s wondrous,” he shared.
“When she gets older — who knows? But that very sweet way she has of looking at you, taking you in, thinking and watching and observing.”
And while the actor faced plenty of criticism over his decision to welcome another child at such a late age, De Niro insists his family life “feels great.”
The Goodfellas star previously told Extra that the pregnancy was planned and that he was completely okay with it. He also admitted that parenthood “never gets easier.”
The actor first revealed he had welcomed another baby last year after an ET Canada interviewer asked him what it was like to be a father to six children.
Responding, De Niro said he had seven children and not six. “I just had a baby,” he explained. At the time of the interview, however, the acting legend didn’t reveal the baby’s name or gender.
Besides Gia, whom he shares with Tiffany Chen, Robert also has two children with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott and two kids with ex-wife Grace Hightower. He is also a father to two sons he welcomed with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith.
