Kaliyah Coa didn’t drown, as per recent findings from a coroner’s request.
After the report opened up about her death from the East London Coroner’s Court, it was shared that the body found in the River Thames in April after she went missing in March was indeed hers.
Many took up the assumption that she died by drowning, but new reports are speaking about how that’s not the case.
It appeared that she had entered the river in an attempt to recover a lost shoe and passed away from the severe cold temperatures of the water, as per the London coroner.
The effect of being in that cold temperature would have resulted in unconsciousness and death, the medical expert shared with the BBC.
This aligns with the preliminary post-mortem findings that shared how she did not die from drowning. Irvine shared how she was required to have a hearing because the Coa’s cause of death was unnatural, and she shared with the court how the provisional cause of death is immersion, and more tests are now needed to determine what went on and why.
