Rihanna allegedly kept her pregnancy a secret from everyone involved in the halftime show including her backup dancers.
On Sunday, the pop superstar performed in front of millions of people as she delivered a powerful performance at the halftime show of Super Bowl 57.
During her appearance at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the self-made billionaire also revealed she is expecting her second child as she cradled her growing baby bump.
Now, TMZ reported that the Disturbia hitmaker made sure no one involved in her performance knew about her pregnancy before her grand reveal.
To keep the news secret as long as possible, the singer allegedly wore baggy, oversized clothes to her rehearsals, hence successfully avoiding rousing suspicion from her 280 backup dancers.
It was further confirmed that Rihanna wore loose clothes during her final rehearsals on Sunday, whereas she didn’t remove her outfit to reveal her scarlet jumpsuit until the very moment she kicked off the show.
While the 34-year-old received heaps of praise for her Sunday act, she was in fact very close to turning the deal down when the time to make the decision came just three months after she gave birth to her first baby last year.
“When you become a mom there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world. You can do anything,” she told Apple Music after previously admitting she had doubts about performing at Super Bowl 57.
“The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as [it is] because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all.
“And it’s important for me to do this this year. It’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see that.”
