Following the performance, which has been slammed as mediocre by critics and branded as the best-ever halftime show act in history by fans, Rihanna sat down with Michael Strahan of Good Morning America for a candid interview.

“They are waiting. I’m excited to actually put new music out but I don’t have any updates for you on that yet,” she said.

Rihanna further admitted that performing in front of millions of people felt “foreign” after a seven-year-long break from touring.

“It’s foreign, it feels foreign. Because it’s not getting back on the stage like I’ve ever been before,” she added.

“There were so many things I felt like I had to overcome in order to even do this. I had just become a mom, literally, and I had not been on tour for seven years. So to go from that to Super Bowl. It was one of those things I knew would be a challenge.”

Despite her place as the second best-selling female music artist of all time, Rihanna still struggles with performing in front of a large number of people.

“Yes, yes, yes,” she responded when asked if she struggles with performing in front of huge masses of people. “I still have not been able to [overcome it] to this day.”

She continued: “The camera represents so many people, a huge audience, and the camera at a Super Bowl is one of the biggest audiences.”

Previously Rihanna also revealed that she almost didn’t make it to this year’s Super Bowl because she had to make the decision just three months after she gave birth to her first child.

“I was like, ‘You sure? I’m three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this,’” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world — you can do anything. And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was … there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for my son to see that.”
