A months-long legal battle between Detroit rapper Dank Demoss and Lyft has now come to a close.
Court records have confirmed that the weight discrimination lawsuit that was filed by the plus size star was silently settled earlier this summer. Demoss, whose real name is Dajua Blanding, gained massive attention from the nation when her Lyft driver in January refused to give her a ride. He claimed that she was simply too heavy for his car.
This left her outraged and she felt like she was being disciminated against. Demoss whose real name is Dajua Blanding, got national attention from viewers who also felt like she deserved a ride, as long as she fit inside.
They also felt that denying her a ride was against the company’s policy and therefore she should be compensated. That’s exactly why she went on to sue them, and things did work out well in her favor.
The rapper recorded the encounter on her phone and later shared that on social media, fueling an outpouring of both support and serious controversy.
‘The driver was fired, she bought a van, and now she rolls with her own private chauffeur’- a viral tweet celebrating the outcome mentioned.
