President Trump was seen revoking former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Secret Service detail, which was silently extended by former President Joe Biden before he left.
Former VPs are only allowed to get up to six months of protection following the end of their terms. This meant that Harris should have lost all of her details by July 21.
Since that was not the case, as confirmed by one White House senior member, Trump decided to step in and take matters into his own hands.
Biden chose to extend it for a full year before he departed the White House. “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by the law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025”- a letter attained by the press read.
So far, it’s not clear as to why Harris’s detail was extended by the former US President, but some sources shared that her candidacy, gender, and race might be a factor linked to this entire fiasco.
In March, Trump revoked Harris’s security clearance, stopping the former VP from getting access to classified data. Biden, Hilary Clinton, and Letitia James also had their access stripped.
