Molly McNearney, who is the executive producer and co-head writer of Jimmy Kimmel Live and the wife of Host Jimmy Kimmel, is opening up about the emotional strain she’s experienced with loved ones who support Trump.
Raised in a very conservative, Republican environment in St. Louis, she mentioned how her political outlook shifted after she moved and encountered people from diverse backgrounds.
Her partner’s high-profile criticism of Trump has made matters so much worse and more personal, she continued. ‘It just hurts me so much because of the personal relationship I now have where my partner is out there fighting this man,’- she added.
Furthermore, she described how relatives’ votes for Trump do feel like a rejection of her and her immediate family.
‘To me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family’- she explained. From her point of view, the divide is not just political, but it’s all about fundamental values. ‘This is just not only Republican versus the Democrats, but it’s me, it’s my family values’- she shared.
