A US appeals court on Wednesday has blocked President Trump from curtailing automated birthright citizenship around the globe.
This was part of the Republican party’s decision to crack down against immigrants and all kinds of illegal border crossings.
The American Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Trump’s administration’s request for the emergency order. This put on hold a major national injunction that was rolled out by the federal judge in Seattle.
It similarly blocked the president’s executive order which many ultimately felt would take place.
This is the first time that the appellate court weighed in on the decision to block Trump’s order for birthright citizenship removal. Now, the ultimate fate would be decided by the US Supreme Court.
Judges in different states including Maryland, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts have similarly blocked it and many appeals are currently taking place in two of such cases. The latest order by Trump was signed on the first day back into the White House and it directed American agencies to stop recognizing the citizenship for kids born in the US.
