Sources have confirmed that a statue of the Queen could soon become a permanent fixture atop the fourth plinth at Trafalgar Square.
At the moment, discussions are taking place to determine how MPs and Buckingham Palace will finalize the decision to memorialize the Queen’s historic 70-year-long reign.
There is currently just one full-size statue that can be found of her Majesty in the entire United Kingdom, and that’s awfully concerning to many people.
A long line of art installations have covered up Trafalgar Square since 1998, and that’s why it’s time for a new statue to come into place, and this time around, it’s going to involve her Majesty, sources explained.
Another statue of the Queen exists, and that was unveiled at her Jubilee celebrations, so many felt it’s time the UK had another one in line for her remembrance and great service to the people of this nation.
Meanwhile, one Government official speaking to The Times revealed how a number of options are being discussed, and they will soon be announcing the final decision to the public.
“This is something that we want to consider very carefully in the fullness of time,”- one government source was seen mentioning.
Meanwhile, several other options are being looked after, including renaming different streets, parks, and even racecourses. And then there was even talk about the Heathrow, where Her Majesty had returned from Kenya, right after her father’s death, George VI, in 1952.
Keeping that aspect aside, this new statue will definitely be the most notable one in Trafalgar Square, and eager Royal fans are waiting patiently to see how the final project will appear.
They also hope it won’t take long to complete as many stand patiently to bid their final respects to the country’s longest-serving monarch in history.
