Patricia Sias Ellis just recently graduated from college, which she dubs as a goal that was six decades in the making.
Ellis walked across the graduation stage at Clayton State University in Morrow on Saturday. This is 60 years after deferring college to put her family first.
After years of working so hard and supporting her loved ones and her son’s careers, she felt that she needed to put herself first for a change. And that includes realizing her dream and earning her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
‘I always knew that I was not finished’- she shared with the media outlet. ‘I did not feel like I had ever finished any of the things that I had started’- she mentioned to CNN and WXIA media outlets.
In another news clip, she mentioned how wearing the graduation gown and cap was a dream, and she’s so glad that it could come true.
Such experiences usually are related to those in the 19 to 20-year age bracket, but that didn’t stop her from aiming high; even at this age, she continued.
Today at 79 years old, she couldn’t be more proud of herself and her achievements.
