Melania Trump’s visa has quickly turned into a subject of major controversy.
The first lady’s visa-related matters have critics calling her husband, President Trump, an absolute hypocrite for ignoring her issue and punishing others over his immigration campaign.
Earlier this week, the first lady had her visa status brought up in Congress publicly.
A rep from Texas, Jasmine Crockett, brought up the matter and questioned if the Trump administration was giving the first lady some kind of special treatment during their mass deportation.
During the Judiciary Committee hearing, she accused the government of snatching visas from legal citizens.
She then went on to question Melania’s status. The 55-year-old moved to the US on the EB-1 visa, which is also known as the Einstein visa, and due to its name, it’s given to those who have won some kind of award, like the Olympic award, Oscar, or Pulitzer, or anyone in a similar field.
Crockett’s argument was that Melania would become an American citizen in July of 2006, and it never fit any of those criteria before being given that visa.
Crockeet further mentioned how Melania had no kind of major achievement to her name to attain such extraordinary abilities and success in the sciences or arts that she would provide such a privilege.
