Pope Leo XIV took part in his inaugural mass, where he wished to confront the modern challenges, as several world leaders attended the grand gathering.
This includes US Vice President JD Vance and Ukraine’s President Zelensky.
The Pontiff mentioned during the homily visit how he was still seeing a lot of discord take place and many wounds arising due to hatred around the globe.
He hoped there would be an end to violence, prejudice, and the fear of difference. He also spoke about the economic paradigm that exploited the Earth’s natural resources and marginalized the poor.
Leo mentioned how he wished to be a servant through the two dimensions of the papacy, which are love and unity.
‘I would like our first desire to be for a united church, a sign of unity, and communion which becomes a leaven for the reconciled world.
He also said that there was no room inside the church for any kind of power play or propaganda, giving world leaders a clear and bold message during his address.
The news comes as the Vatican shared how the first American pontiff would be holding a private gathering this afternoon with Ukraine’s President Zelensky. He similarly offered the Vatican to be a peace ground for talks between Russia and Ukraine to help solve the current very difficult and dramatic situation.
