Police officers pulled over a man who was driving without a license for more than seven decades.
As the police in the market town of Bulwell, England, revealed, they recently pulled over an 84-year-old man only to find out that he was driving without a license and insurance.
That, however, wasn’t the most shocking thing they discovered. After talking to the man, the police found out that the senior was driving without a license for 72 years ever since he was just 12 years old.
As the senior revealed, he managed to stay off the police radar and avoid getting pulled over for whatever reason for more than seven decades.
“We can’t quite believe what happened next,” the officers wrote in their Facebook post after an automatic number-plate recognition camera flagged the old man’s car, prompting the police to stop him.
“The driver, who was born in 1938, coughed that he had been driving with no license and no insurance, since he was 12 years old and somehow had managed to never be stopped by the police.”
The police also revealed that the man was never before involved in any road accident or incident.
“Thankfully he had never had an accident [or] caused anyone an injury,” they added.
While it remains unclear whether the police took further action against the old man or not, they have since warned motorists to keep their documents in order at all times.
“Due to the increased number of ANPR cameras in Nottingham, even on the small trips you are likely to hit a camera, so make sure your documents are in order… because it will catch up with you one day,” they said.
