At least seven people have been killed after a giant cargo plane crashed into a fireball shortly after takeoff last night.
The plane crashed in Louisville in Kentucky, and was also captured on social media exploding in horrifying scenes. The incident arose at 5:15 pm after its left wing caught on fire.
The MD-11 aircraft was made in 1991 and was said to be departing for Honolulu from the UPS Worldport at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport when it met with the tragedy.
A video shared across social media showed the flames on the plane’s left wing and a massive trail of smoke. The plane then lifted slightly off the ground before crashing and exploding into a giant fireball, as shown in the heartbreaking visuals.
The video also showed portions of the building’s shredded roof next to the end of the runway.
The death toll has risen to at least seven on Tuesday night, and four of those killed were not on the plane, officials mentioned. The state governor shared how the death toll is expected to rise as 11 people were also injured, and some of them had very significant injuries. An investigation is taking place to determine the cause of the crash.
