One chef has gone viral on social media after sharing her shocking story of getting fired from her job.
The woman says she is beyond furious for getting fired after she was caught checking her phone during her shift. Furthermore, she feels it’s not fair and is now demanding netizens have their say on the matter.
The young chef made heads turn with her bold and daring statements online. The 20-year-old said getting fired for something like this was not a part of her wildest dreams and imagination.
She adds that there was a reason why she had to do it but her bosses failed to take that into consideration and gave her the boot without any sort of prior warning attached.
20-year-old Sophie Alcock was reportedly hired for a restaurant based in Manchester called Toast. Everything seemed to be going fine until the day arrived for her university results to be published online.
Nervous and anxious as ever, this diva ended up getting so distracted that she did not even realize that she was using her smartphone for hours during work. And yes, that was against the rules.
The figure outlined happened to be four hours but she claims that it’s not her fault that her boss did not get after her and tell her to do more.
She was idle and hence that’s the reason why she ended up picking up the device in the first place.
The young chef could be seen secretly filming herself on the day she was getting sacked.
Her boss began yelling at her and informing her that what she was doing was beyond outrageous and that this was the worst day of work that he had ever seen her in because her priority was not the food but her phone.
And he was not willing to accept this.
Is it a company policy to forbid such action?
How often are you distracted to check your phone?
It must be your habit to constantly use it, that you think it’s not an issue.
You’re being paid to work. You can use your phone during your breaks and lunch. Many companies have a no phone during work hours rule and employees are made aware of it when they are hired. In the event of an emergency, your family can call the work line. You aren’t special.
Exactly
You aren’t special either grandma
I agree with Grandma, you’re there to work, not check your phone. If there’s an emergency that someone needs to get hold of you, they surely know where you work and can call there.
I agree with grandma. I was a Customer Service Manager, it was a huge problem with employees who think they should be able to text, talk and review their phones regularly. They would sign a document indicating policy. Also they were given a number for families to contact them for emergencies. Our Customer Service would suffer because of their distractions. Sorry people companies and businesses have production and productivity rules.
Why even have your phone on you? I would’ve given you the boot too. You’re being paid to work, not be on your phone. If you’re this addicted to your phone you will always be getting fired until you get your priorities straight.
I agree– you were hired to work. If you had idle time pick up a cloth and start cleaning
What’s wrong with giving company what they pay for and it’s not u on the phone.
