The doctor who gave actor Matthew Perry doses of ketamine, right before he overdosed and drowned inside his Los Angeles home’s hot tub, has now pleaded guilty to playing a role in his death.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia showed up at the federal court yesterday and remained silent most of the time when the judge went over his plea agreement for 60 minutes.
Plasencia was often called out as Dr. P and is now facing a possible 40-year prison sentence if he didn’t take on the plea deal.
He’s expected to return to the court on December 3 for sentencing and will face up to 10 years inside the federal prison. When asked by the judge if he and his lawyers had considered any possibility of pleas and sentencing in the case, the physician replied by saying, ‘they have considered everything.’
The doctor is the fourth person who is indicted on criminal charges linked to the Friends star’s death on October 28, 2023.
Sangha is currently in custody in Los Angeles and continues to await trial.
Others that pleaded guilty included the likes of Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who discovered the actor’s lifeless remains inside the hot tub. As per the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office, the actor passed away from the acute effects of ketamine.
