Donald Trump has summoned Ukraine’s Zelensky to the White House after his secretive meeting with Putin in Alaska.
The President shared more details about how the high stakes summit with the Russian head of state about how it did go as planned and was a success. While he did agree that there was no deal made about peace or a ceasefire, he was not done yet.
This is why he invited the Ukrainian leader to the capital tomorrow to discuss more details about this and reveal the next steps that he feels might lead to peace, if Zelensky agrees.
Speculations surrounding giving up land in exchange for peace were also on the cards, but that was outlined as not only illegal but also something that Ukraine was not keen on falling back to, as Zelensky feared Russia would use that to stage a war in the future.
The concept of land swaps left security experts in the EU reeling as they branded it so disturbing and a huge win for Russia.
Instead of a ceasefire, Trump shared how Putin and Zelensky would be moving directly towards a lasting peace deal and that Ukraine’s president would meet him. The US President strongly feels that Ukraine needs to make this deal to put an end to the war, as Russia is a huge power and Ukraine is not. ‘The best way to end this is to go directly to a Peace Agreement that would end it,’- he continued.
