Alaska’s biggest city is feeling the pressure after scientists have provided major clues about a mega volcanic eruption soon.
Mouth Spurr towers 11,000 feet high and sits around 81 miles from Anchorage, which is said to be home to nearly 300k residents.
Scientists shared how an intense blow would soon be covering the whole city in a huge cloud, as revealed by Radar Online.
Matt Haney, who is a scientist in charge at the AVO, explained to Daily Mail how the eruption would be so explosive, sending several ash plumes soaring up to 50k feet into the air.
Every episode will reportedly last for a few hours, trapping Anchorage and surrounding areas into a giant thick cloud.
On March 20, Anchorage officials raised the emergency planning level to Level 2, which is a clear signal to focus more on public communication and preparations for eruption responses.
The city also shared pet safety guidelines, advising owners how to keep pets indoors. They’re also being told to stock up on supplies for two weeks and then clean ash from pets’ fur if they enter inside.
Residents have since then been piling up on things like N95 masks, water, gloves, and protective gear. This entails goggles, booties, and gas masks for pets.
