An 18-year-old high school cheerleader named Kimber Mills from Alabama was fatally shot by a stranger at a large bonfire party in a rural area known as The Pit.
The incident left her fighting for her life inside the hospital for a few days before doctors declared her brain dead. Her family shared that hundreds of friends and hospital staff were seen lining up the halls for an honor walk ceremony as she was prepared for organ donation.
Mills was believed to be stuck during the melee when the gunman allegedly opened fire, leaving several victims behind.
The shooter has since then been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. As per reports, once Mills was declared brain dead, she donated her heart to year year-old boy in Ohio and her lungs to a woman in New York. This gave them more hope amid this massive tragedy.
Her family described her as a warm, bubbly, and loving individual whose life ended far too early. “We are just so grateful that she was able to live on and how she loved everyone. We are so grateful that she had a huge impact on people’s lives,” her loved ones shared.
