A Japan Airlines flight was seen deploying oxygen masks to passengers onboard after the Boeing 737 plane dropped nearly 26,000 feet.
Sources shared how the incident arose when the plane operating under the codeshare agreement between Japan Airlines and Spring Japan departed from China and was bound for Tokyo, Japan.
There were reportedly 191 passengers and crew onboard the plane when it suddenly experienced a mid-air mechanical issue, as per the Associated Press.
The plane descended so fast from about 36,000 feet to just under 10,500 feet within 10 minutes, at about 6 pm local time.
Passengers feared that the plane would crash as oxygen masks were released amid fears that the change in pressure levels could result in some individuals losing consciousness, as per AP.
‘I heard a muffled boom, and the oxygen mask fell off in a few seconds. I knew something was terribly wrong, and the crew members started to cry, and a sense of fear filled the air. They kept shouting to put the mask on as the plane had a malfunction’- another shared.
One passenger mentioned how they were so sure that the plane was going down that they wrote a goodbye message to their loved ones, stating the concerning situation and how much they loved those who were so near and dear to them. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Osaka, Japan.
