Things are not looking too good for actress Amber Heard as she has recently been ordered to pay her former partner Johnny Depp $10 million for damaging his reputation.
According to local media reports, Heard previously received the official announcement for $8.35 million to compensate for the defamation damages that she was found guilty of during the trial.
At that time, the Aquaman actress revealed how had wished to make an appeal but during that time, the judge for the case claimed that she would be needed to put forward an entire bond that stated the full amount before such an appeal could ever be considered.
Now, the six-week trial that took place in Fairfax in Virginia had many people’s eyes glued to the screens. The verdict came in no time and it all went downhill for the actress from there.
The jury was said to have awarded a staggering $10 million as a part of compensatory damages while $5 million were going to be related to punitive damages.
Now, the punitive damages were reportedly reduced down to $350,000 and these were in accordance with the current laws in Virginia. And that is how we’re now up to a grand total of nearly $10.35 million, while Johnny Depp does owe Heard $2 million.
Yesterday, it was revealed how Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s legal teams met during the early hours of the morning.
Both sides are said to have failed to reach an agreement at the last minute, which could possibly have seen the damages that the actress owed to her ex-partner be further reduced, right after their six-week trial came to an end this month.
Amber Heard is said to be on the verge of bankruptcy as the star plans on making an appeal on the verdict. The star was also recently seen shopping at a bargain store for clothes followed by an appearance at the grocery store too.
