The first official portrait of the newly crowned monarch King Charles with Queen Consort Camilla has been released all over the world, royal author Richard Kay said.
The new image is being studied with fascination and affection as it also features Prince William and Kate, giving people a glimpse of the present and future of the monarchy.
Viewers and experts will search for clues that tell us the long-term security of the Royal Family.
The royal author said that the portrait is “brimming with symbolism” as it shows King Charles with his son and heir, while a portrait of King George III – the longest-reining male monarch in the history of Britain – can be seen in the background.
Another remarkable thing about the photograph is that it was taken on the eve of the late Queen’s funeral, when the four senior royals as they were about to host a Buckingham Palace reception for visiting Heads of State.
Mr. Kay said that the message was clear: “the business of monarchy never rests, even at times of great personal sorrow, and it’s enduring strength lies in its continuity.”
The royal author claims that there is another significant factor in the portrait – it is a nod to King Charles’ wishes for a slimmed-down monarchy.
Years ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would’ve had every expectation to be part of the Royal Family ensemble.
There was even such a photograph issued to mark then Prince Charles’ 70th birthday.
But only months after that, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to move to the US.
Mr. Kay said that one reason the Sussexes decided to step down from their royal duties is that they didn’t want to share the spotlight.
In Britain, there is a royal order that revolves around only four people, not six. But in the US, they are at the center of their own production.
