Rapper Nicki Minaj is raising eyebrows wherever she goes, and her recent appearance for the UN is no exception.
Many slammed the Trump administration for selecting her as a UN ambassador and wondered what exactly they saw in her to give her this leading position.
Minhaj addressed all of those gathered at the special event in New York on Tuesday, and she added how she meant to draw attention to what some were mentioning is the plight of Christians in Nigeria.
The rapper was introduced by President Trump’s ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, and that’s when she started her remarks by expressing extreme nervousness while thanking both Trump and Waltz for this great chance to speak on the mega platform.
She then mentioned how honored she felt to be present and to shine a spotlight on the deadly threats faced by so many Christians in Nigeria.
‘I stand here as a proud New Yorker with a deep sense of gratitude that we are living in a nation where we can freely and safely worship God, no matter where we come from’- she continued. ‘No group should ever be prosecuted for practicing what they believe in,’- she explained.
Trump sparked outrage in Nigeria when he mentioned thoughts about possible military action and would also be stopping aid after he felt the Nigerian government was not doing enough to protect the Christian community against mass slaughter.
