An infant who was reportedly said to be mauled to death by the family’s pit bull puppy was said to be dead at the time she was bitten, authorities have confirmed.
This heartbreaking case took a grim turn that not a lot of people were expecting for obvious reasons. The news arose from the medical examiners who were following the case involving the one-month-old infant named Kiyanna Winfield, who passed away from an unknown cause, before the family’s dog caused the shocking wounds.
The dog was said to be a six-week-old pit bull German shepherd mix puppy who caused these shocking wounds that initially led investigators to believe she had been mauled to death.
As per the girl’s parents, the baby girl died from sudden infant death syndrome before the family dog attacked her face, they shared with the media outlet New York Post on Thursday.
The mother kept on insisting that she had nothing to do with her child’s death. ‘I did not kill my child’- Burton shared in a post.
The baby’s stepdad, Christopher, added that she passed away from sudden infant death syndrome. The child was also believed to have some medical issues, including a heart murmur. The dog did eat the baby’s face, and it was put down, the father concluded.
