Tragic reports are speaking about the horror that unfolded after a jiu-jitsu student was left paralysed from the neck down after being slammed down to the ground by his black belt instructor.
Jack Greener, who was a beginner white belt, was seen suffering from the most horrifying injuries after his instructor put on a move that struck his neck.
Footage from the terrifying incident showed him pinned against his instructor, dubbed Sinistro, which happened inside the training facility.
The beginner was said to be put into a helpless situation and was on all fours when his instructor flipped him forward before twisting his head and neck.
Greener immediately lost complete control over his body and fell to the ground.
He was rushed to the hospital, just days before he was supposed to graduate from college in the year 2018.
The terrifying incident crushed his cervical vertebrae, effectively leaving him paralyzed below the neck.
Greener was forced to spend several months in the hospital, recovering from several strokes that arose due to his injuries, as per the New York Post.
He then went on to sue the instructor and the club for the injuries and blamed the instructor for his aggressive grappling style.
Greener was awarded $56 million by the San Diego jury as compensation for the tragedy that he endured.
