The ex-basketballer, who used to play alongside NBA legend LeBron James for Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008, was seen talking to several people leaving the store and appeared to be begging for money.

At one point, West was spotted accepting a handful of cash from another person. In another instance, he climbed on top of an ice cooler and charged his phone in the outlet.

“Seems Delonte West on Richmond highway in Virginia 2 days ago. What happened so quick? A few months ago I thought they were trying to get him into the Big3 league,” a passerby who took pictures of the basketballer wrote as he shared the photos online.

West kicked off his NBA career in 2004 when he joined Boston Celtics. He eventually made it into Cleveland Cavaliers and later the Mavericks for the 2011-2012 season.

Following a series of arguments, the then-28-year-old was suspended indefinitely. Ten years later, West was supposed to make an epic comeback in The Big 3 only to blow his chance by failing to show up in the league’s draft back in May.

This isn’t the first time West was spotted panhandling. Back in 2020, he was picked up by Dallas Cowboys owner Mark Cuban at a Virginia gas station after he was seen begging for money. Cuban then reportedly also paid for West’s drug rehab.

Most recently, in October, the basketballer also got involved in an incident with cops and got charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer.

In police videos, unruly West could be heard calling the officers “fu*****” and “bit****” before repeatedly unleashing the n-word.

“N****, I was better than LeBron James. I’m better than [Michael] Jordan. I was the best n**** to play every sport. Shut the f*** up,” the 38-year-old yelled at the cops.

He then went on to say he was Jesus Christ and the President of the US saying: “You just gave up your chances of going to heaven. I came here to save you and help you. I’m the President of the United States – President Jesus.”
