Halloween is usually deemed to be a wonderful celebration for kids.
They’re dressing up, dancing around, and parading in their costumes in the hopes of attaining some sugary treats. But one mother says she was beyond appalled to learn that her daughter was denied candy because she was autistic.
It can be so hard for kids to understand what is happening around them, the mom revealed. But one thing they will remember for sure is how they were treated. And in this case, the mom says she’s appalled to learn that an adult could be so heartless.
The neighbor shut the door in her daughter’s face when she knocked on her door for chocolates in honor of Halloween. At first, she assumed that she was in the mood to celebrate but when she saw her passing out candy to other kids, she became furious yet sad at the same time.
The mom went on the Reddit platform to explain more on the matter and how she just does not have any words for the way people behave these days. It’s almost like they lack empathy and the ability to sensitize with others in the community.
The six-year-old happens to be autistic and it’s amazing how badly she is treated and made to feel left out by so many others.
“It’s already so hard for her, why make it worse? She does not deserve to be treated in this manner. This is just plain and sad!”- the mom went on to react.
After analyzing the whole situation, the mom felt it was her duty to school the neighbor on how she felt so that other kids in a similar situation would be spared from her evilness.
“Yes, my child does not speak much. Therefore, she probably did not wish you Halloween or perhaps she doesn’t like to be very verbal about it. But how can you refuse her candy?”- the mom asked.
The response she got from the neighbor was more of a blank face and that just made matters worse for her. Therefore, she has now decided to blacklist her forever so that her child never has to fear or encounter an individual like that in the future again.
