Mother Of Convicted Trucker Who Was Sentenced To 110 Years In Prison Breaks Silence And Says She Refuses To Stop Fighting For Her Son


The mother of the 26-year-old trucker who was sentenced to 110 years in prison over a devastating Colorado crash has spoken out.

Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was handed a 110-year prison sentence after he was found guilty on 27 charges including four counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Following the ruling, people, including renowned celebrities like Kim Kardashian, have called on the Colorado governor to commute the driver’s sentence or grant clemency.

Now, the young man’s mother has once again spoken out and insisted she’s not willing to back down until she gets justice for her son.

“I feel very sad for the people who lost their lives. And my son is suffering from it, as well as I am,” Oslaida Mederos told ABC as she claimed her son never wanted to see anyone get hurt.

“We are Christians, we believe in God and we pray for them. He is a good boy,” the distraught mother added.

Speaking of her son’s sentence, which has been dubbed unjust by many, the mother said she has been getting calls from all around the world by people who want to see her son freed.

“I have the support of every country in the world. They call me every five minutes that they want his freedom… that it was an injustice. It was an accident,” Mederos added.

Speaking out was also Leonard Martinez, the family’s attorney, who said they will continue to try and get Rogel home as soon as possible.

“We want our client home and with his family. I’m not sure we’ll get there with the judge, obviously. And not sure we’ll get there with the governor, but we’re going to try,” Martinez said in an interview with ABC.

“We’re going to continue to try to get him home as soon as possible.”
