Australian star Clare McCann was seen bidding farewell to her 13-year-old son after he chose to take his own life, months after relentless bullying at school.
Atreyu McCann was always remembered as the most creative and generous soul at the moving ceremony at Waverley’s Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Monday.
Friends and family packed the church to watch in silence as footage played of Atreyu playing music, singing, and standing proudly beside his mom at the red carpet event.
Like his mom, who was an acclaimed journalist, filmmaker, and actress best known for her starring role in the Channel V series Blog Party, Atreyu always had the most realistic aspirations.
The career was very short, but he did manage to grab two drama awards and played roles in the US documentary series Deadly Women and Benefited, which was again written and directed by his mom.
Friends and loved ones were seen wiping tears as Ms McCann approached the pulpit, letting out a long and shaky breath before sharing tales of her lost best friend.
